Located ญญญ 6 blocks from the California
Center for the Arts, in a quiet section of Old Escondido, the
Center's garden setting offers a tranquil break from your day-however
it is. The Center for SELF Discovery is intended to
be a healing place; the surrounding garden offers color and
an invitation to sit in the patio and listen to the waterfall
before or after your session. We have four psychotherapists working
in the Center-all mind-body therapists and trained in Bioenergetics.
Life
can sometimes be overwhelming when our experiences are traumatic
and painful. Even when
we are relatively free of major discomfort, we are exposed daily
to the stressors abundant in our culture. Research now corroborates the relationship between stress and the
breakdown of the body's immune system, not to mention what it
can do to our emotional health.

Too
often, we are unaware of the impact these stressors and our
life story has had on our bodies and minds. The unconscious memories of these events and
their effect will most often remain within the body until brought
to the conscious level. This
unconscious and stored emotional energy can restrict the body's
muscular flexibility, natural energy, and an individual's sense
of aliveness. Additionally, clarity of mind can be limited by
this accumulation of energy.
Within
the safety of the therapeutic relationship, at the Center for
SELF Discovery, these events are revealed and integrated into
the individual's awareness. As this gentle healing process occurs,
it facilitates the restoration of aliveness and well-being that
each of us so deserves in our lives.
